While our community offers Sacraments, we are not a Parish. All sacraments are recorded in the local Basel Parish of Heiliggeist

Baptism

In baptism, we become children of God and are accepted into the community of the Church. We usually celebrate the sacrament of Baptism on Sundays during the regular Sunday Mass at 5.30 pm. Baptism requires a preparatory meeting.

For further details, please contact ESRCCB at info@esrccb.org. The priest responsible for the preparation will contact you and discuss the next steps.

Are you unsure whether you want to baptize your child now? You can also have your child blessed. Please contact our Chaplain accordingly.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament that follows Baptism; in it the gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed upon us. Persons who freely decide to live a life as God’s child and ask for God’s Spirit under the signs of the laying on of hands and anointing with chrism receive the strength to witness to God’s love and might in word and deed. They now become a full-fledged, responsible member of the Catholic Church. (Youcat, No. 203)

Confirmation is offered through our Religious Education program and for adults as part of the rites of initiation to the church.

Eucharist

We celebrate our faith in a variety of ways, paying special attention to the Eucharist, as the celebration of the Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. There is the opportunity to join in the celebration of the Eucharist every Sunday during Holy Mass at 5:30 pm at Bruder Klaus church in Basel. Please refer to our homepage www.esrccb.org for directions and our calendar for any irregular Mass times.

Confession / Reconciliation

In baptism, we are freed from sin and become children of God. Unfortunately, we do not always succeed in living in this truth and behaving according to our dignity. In His rich mercy, God always allows us to start anew: Confession is the meeting place where God forgives all sins, heals us and reconciles us with the community. In confession, through the absolution spoken by the priest, God grants forgiveness of sins.

Our Chaplain is available for confession every Sunday before the Holy Mass.

The Anointing of the Sick

In a profound way, the Anointing of the Sick imparts consolation, peace, and strength and unites the sick, in their precarious situation and their sufferings, with Christ., for the Lord experienced our fears and bore our pains in his body. For many people, the Anointing of the Sick brings about physical healing. But if God should decide to call the sick home to Himself, he gives them in the Anointing of the Sick the strength for all the physical and spiritual battles on their final journey. The Anointing of the Sick has the effect of forgiving sins. (Youcat, No.245)

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament by which bishops, priests and deacons are ordained and receive the power and grace to perform their sacred duties. The sacred rite by which orders are conferred is called ordination. The apostles were ordained by Jesus at the Last Supper so that others could share in his priesthood.

Please send an email to info@esrccb.org for more information.

Matrimony

A man and a woman administer the sacrament to each other by saying yes to each other in a public promise. In their mutual attention, fidelity and exclusivity, they show the love that God has for us human beings. They continue God’s work of creation by passing on life and bringing it to fruition.

Depending on the flexibility of place and date, it is advisable to contact the parish office 6-12 months before the planned wedding ceremony.

In a first preparatory meeting, the essential data can be recorded, church and church witness (priest/deacon) can be found, and further steps can be discussed.

Please send an email to info@esrccb.org for more information.
