Lk 6:12-16

It is only Luke who tells us that before choosing the twelve, Jesus spent the whole night in prayer to God. The choice of twelve was a key moment in the life of Jesus, and he prepared for it by prayer. Luke describes how Jesus maintained a deep relationship with the Father by His regular prayer life. By his prayer at these key moments, Jesus was opening himself up to God’s purpose for his life. We too pray to God when something important is on its way in our life. But Jesus asks us to make prayer a habit. It was from His constant prayer that Jesus received the power to give Himself totally for others. Our constant communion with God will enable us to know His will and accordingly.
