Fasnacht is the traditional carnival season, deeply intertwined with the Christian liturgical calendar as a final period of celebration before the 40 days of Lent. The name “Fasnacht” literally translates to “fasting night” or “the night before the fast,” referring to the eve of Ash Wednesday.
