Descriptions of Caring OpportunitiesThe “Caring Within Our Community” program is aimed at fostering community awareness both as an ongoing program and on an emergency basis. Following is a brief outline of the different ministries. Some of the ministries are flexible and take very little time and effort. Prayer ChainThis is a list of people willing to pray in their own home on their own time for specific requests of those in our community. General prayers will be said for prayer requests entered into our Parish Prayer Book that is available at the entrance of church each Sunday. When a need arises for specific targeted prayers, an email will go out to those on the Prayer Chain to ask them to specifically pray for this need. Family PairingThis is to provide some social and/or knowledge support to newcomers to our community. Whenever a new family comes, they will be asked if they want to be paired with another family to help them get used to their new area. A host family might have the new family over for dinner or coffee or dessert … or they might just provide answers to questions (via phone or email) about where to shop, doctors, dentists, etc etc. It is up to the paired families to decide what works best. Visiting People In NeedThis is to get some individuals together to visit those who could really use some company … either in their own home or in the hospital. Right now we do not have a list of people who need visits --- but we will start advertising for this in our bulletin and website, and whomever is running the Prayer Chain may identify some people through that. We are hoping that word-of-mouth will help us to find out who could use a visit. So, we are starting with getting together a list of people who are willing to visit and will then work on finding out who needs visits. The frequency, time, day of the visit will depend on the need. Transportation SupportThis is a list of people willing to provide transportation for those in need (for doctor appointments, church, shopping, etc). We also need a leader for this group --- to keep a list of providers (their location and general availability), such that when a request for transportation is made, they can notify the volunteers via email or phone calls to find someone who can provide the service. We will advertise in our bulletin and website that we have this service. Meal SupportThis is list of people willing to provide a meal on occasion as a family in our community is in need (typically due to a parent and/or other family member being seriously ill or in the hospital). We will advertise this service in our bulletin and website, but the need may also come out of a request for prayers (so the Prayer Chain Leader may notify the Meal Support Leader). Mother & Toddler Play Group - Forming - Please let us know if you are interestedThis group is to allow mothers with little children to get together and have their children play together. Anyone with little children can sign up; hopefully someone will offer to be the Leader of this group. The leader could communicate via email to get the group to determine dates, times, and location. Perhaps they will decide to meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly and in a rotation of each other’s homes. The group can decide if they want to share snacks, etc. Young Adult Group - Forming - Please let us know if you are interestedThis group will exchange emails and plan some social get-togethers and/or outings etc. Coffee MorningNo need to sign up, just come! This is to just get together and socialize. We will meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings of the month at 10am at Park Im Grünen and there is no need for any commitment or regularity of attendance. Directions:-Tram 10 : Buses 60 and 63 For these you get off at ‘Neue Welt’ For more information on any of these programs, or to volunteer, or to seek help for someone, please contact us at info@esrccb.org May the Lord Bless You today!
